Zammuto, a Temporary Residence band who opened up for Explosions in the Sky last night
Can’t say their show was all to my taste. Maybe even most of it wasn’t.
But impossible to deny that they were interesting, and—what with the quirky video clips playing behind them—put on an interesting show.
They reminded me in equal parts of Discipline-era Crimson, ‘70’s space funk channeled through someone like Tortoise, and the noodly appendages of let’s say Don Cab. Oh, and if they didn’t have a vocoder to process their vocals, they were using something similar.
I’m not a fan of Don Cab anyway, but somehow the description I used above makes them sound a little better than they actually were.
But definitely an A for conceptuality, and oh yeah their best song is called “Zebra Butt”
